Mark Novak, RLA
Mark began his landscape architecture career in 1998 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University. Mark has amassed extensive knowledge of design from his years of experience, and consistently leads his local, national and international clients through exceptional award-winning projects.
As Activitas’ Design Principal, Mark has a hand in each project that moves through the office. His eye for design is both unique and critical; it is essential in weeding out potential drawbacks during the design process and minimizing problems during construction. His ability to step back and look at the bigger picture throughout a project’s development helps to ensure that the proposed path is the best and most appropriate; a trait of great importance to our clients—old, new or future.
Mark is a recognized expert in the design and selection of athletic surfaces. He has published several articles on athletic field design, construction, and maintenance and has served as an expert witness on synthetic turf cases in both the United States and Canada. Mark maintains a consistent focus on professional development; he served as Chairman for the Synthetic Turf Council’s Task Force on Synthetic Turf Infill and Pads, and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences related to the business of athletic field and facility design.
In addition to competing in marathons and triathlons, Mark remains actively involved in athletics by coaching youth baseball, basketball and soccer in Scituate, MA.
